A Path to a More Accessible U
Did you know that the University has over 60 miles of sidewalks (and that doesn’t even include Research Park)? The Universal Design and Access Committee is gathering and updating data on campus sidewalks to help convey accurate information about access and paths of travel on campus and identify needed improvements.
Over the past several years, many ADA improvements have been made on campus, including the installation of ADA ramps, changes to parking lots, and the creation of new pathways. This work has improved campus accessibility, not only for individuals with mobility disabilities but also for other users, such as bicyclists and those with strollers.
The ADA Pathways project is the next step in improving accessibility on the University campus. This project will provide all students, staff, faculty, and visitors with a valuable resource to help them more easily navigate campus and find the most accessible route to a destination. This work will greatly inform accessibility and universal design efforts on campus.
